$2.4 million strategy to help stop serious gambling problems

The Australian state of New South Wales announced Wednesday that it will launch a three-year $2.4 million strategy to help stop serious gambling problems from developing and devastating people and their families.

As part of the proposal, all problem gambling counselling services in the state will come under a new name and logo, Gambling Help.
“The Rees Government is committed to tackling problem gambling early, before problems worsen, and this $2.4 million investment is a key part of those efforts. For example, right now the Rees Government funds 43 problem gambling counselling services in more than 200 places across NSW, as well as the G-Line phone service and a range of support materials online and they all have different names.[...]

New Independant Board for the Gambling Commission

Responsible Gaming Day

On the 17 February 2009, the European Gaming and Betting Association

organised its second a Responsible Gaming Day at the European Parliament on Integrity and Sports. The event was attended by MEPs, the EU Czech Presidency, regulators, academics, representatives from the sporting world and leading industry figures. Delegates discussed the role of the Internet as a tool to improve consumer protection and fraud prevention, with a particular focus on the field of sports betting integrity.
